Hey.. This is the third entry for our phobia discussion. Hope you guys get something new from the article.
A phobia is, by nature, confined to a specific object or situation. Unlike more broad-based mental disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, phobia sufferers are not constantly consumed by worry and fear. Nonetheless, a phobia can have a very real impact on your quality of life. Here is what you may not know about the effects of phobias.
1. Life-Limiting

One of the main criteria for diagnosing a phobia is that it is life-limiting in nature. Depending on what your phobia is, you might find it a real struggle to run errands, go out with friends or even make it to work every day.
These limitations can make you feel isolated. You may wonder why you are not like everybody else. You may have trouble keeping friends. You may become reclusive and depressed.
2. Embarrassing
Phobias can cause awkward and embarrassing situations. How do you explain to your best friend that you can never visit her home because she owns a dog? How do you turn down a trip to the Bahamas with a new love because you can’t bring yourself to get on a plane?
Social phobia can be especially difficult to manage, because the underlying fear is of humiliation. Having a phobic reaction can feel humiliating, reinforcing the fear and making the phobia more difficult to manage.

3. Feeling out of Control
Perhaps one of the worst emotional components of a phobia is the out of control feeling. You probably understand that your phobia is irrational, but no matter how hard you try you can’t get it under control. You wonder what it would be like to simply live your life without worrying that you may come into contact with that which you dread.
4. Helplessness
Helplessness may appear when you realize that your phobia is out of control. You may feel that there is nothing you can do to heal. You may assume that you will always have your phobia. You may wish things were different, but feel that they never will be.
If your phobia is causing any of these thoughts or feelings, it is important to seek treatment. Like any mental disorder, it is easy for a phobia to have an impact far beyond its basic symptoms. Treating the phobia will eventually help to reduce the negative feelings of shame and helplessness.
While you are in treatment, you may find that some negative feelings remain. Tell your mental health professional. Further therapy, perhaps from a psychodynamic point of view, can help you to sort out your feelings and concerns. While you are undergoing treatment, you may find that self-help methods and relaxation techniques can help to reduce your symptoms.
What is your piece of mind about this?

Finally, after waiting for a long time we got a new entry from Veronica. Hehe.
I have been waiting to know whats the effect of phobias towards the person that suffered it. I am interested on the second point which is the embarrassing. Yeah, I think the person who suffer it may feel shy or embarrass of her/himself because this kind of people is easy to be teased off by another people.
For example, my friend that I just mention on the previous post which is afraid of balloon. I felt pity for her, but at the same time we teased her by bring the balloon near to her until she screamed. Hehe. I am truthfully sorry my friend ;p That's why I think the person that suffer from phobia are easy to be teased.
So, what do you think about the other effect of phobias my dearest friends?

hello everyone....after a while...at last we manage to post our next comment on our new entry..life`s a bit hectic so hope this will settle as soon as possible right girls? hehe...like what veronica share with us about the effects of phobia is that it is very interesting to realise there are also loads of expected things for the effects.. personally, i tend to pity more on the third effect that is "feeling out of control"...as the picture show how terrible people who suffer from phobia might be..its a sad situation but very true..they might be pressure and tense of what seems to "haunt" them..therefore, we as a society should respect and at least try not to underestimate them in a way...like for chah, i dont think you should do that to your friend, which i know who it is...hehe...but somehow, its fun teasing cause we can see their reaction right?? :)
have a good day everyone!
Yours Faithfully,

Heya.. Good to be back here. Huhu.
I agree that phobia is very annoying. For me all of the effects are not considerable. They all are bad for one's life.
There're also hidden or rather related issues cause by the effects. For instance, these people will most probably don't make a lot of friend due to their limited life. Of course friends always wanted to hang out together. But people with phobia will have the tendency to avoid it. They know that it is hard for them to control themselves in case they encounter the mater that they affraid of.
Apart from that, they will also, perhaps, have low self esteem in them because of the phobia. They will feel embarras of their weakness and helplessness.
So these effects of phobia realy make one's life miserable. Hope in one fine day, scientist can discover the real cure for this problem.
That's all for now. Hope i don't have to change my password again next time. Hahaha. Daaaa..

Hey friends, I'm back! :D
Well, for some reason I do agree with Veronica about the point that people suffer from phobia that probably don't make a lot of friends. His/her friends may think that he/she will only bring problems to them. Furthermore, I think people with phobia will have depression and by that way they will not try to socialize with other people because afraid that phobia will come to them.
And I do agree too with Farah with the point "feeling out of control". As we know people with phobia will get depressed a lot. What if at one time he/she can't deal with the depression anymore? That pity person may think negative or stupid things. Well, you all know what stupid things they might do right?
For Farah, yes I think we should not tease our friend that have phobia. Hehe. Thank god our dear friend is far from us :D

Hi, guys :). Seems like phobia has a really close connection with social disorder. Whenever someone is suffering from a phobia, it will mostly affect them socially.
So, phobia is not a small matter. Just as all of my three friends had said up there, someone with a phobia would be suffering a great deal, and it does take a lot of great effort in order to reverse the negative effects of phobia.
Insyaallah, I'll come back to this post with another piece of mind guys, ;)
